What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient healing system that involves inserting fine, sterile needles into specific 'points' on the skin surface to stimulate therapeutic changes within the body. Acupuncturists believe that pain and illness occur when there is a disturbance of the body's vital (qi) energy. By stimulating various acupuncture points the therapist aims to restore the body's natural balance.

What conditions can Acupuncture help?

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to treat hundreds of different conditions of body, mind and spirit.

It can be used to treat such diverse conditions as nausea, menopausal hot flushes, dental pain, provide relief from knee pain and tension headaches or to enhance your sense of relaxation and well being. The National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommends that acupuncture should be made available on the NHS for the treatment of chronic low back pain.
